Introducing Rylan | A cozy in-home newborn session

In-home newborn sessions are always just so darn COZY. This session with little Rylan was no different!

I often have moms reaching out to me about being unsure whether their home is ‘good enough’ for photos. MOMMA, where your baby comes HOME TO? Yes of course it’s good enough! SO many memories are going to be made in that home and you deserve to soak up every chance to capture those moments - starting with newborn photos!

You might be feeling like “MY house? I don’t think so.” But take a look at some of my tips below and then scroll on through how Dayna and Mark SLAYED their in-home session :)

  1. TO THE WINDOW TO THE WALL

I am a lifestyle photographer and natural light is my best friend. Take a look at where the most light is coming in to your home. Living rooms, kitchens, dining room, nursery - mom and dad’s room - literally check out all of the rooms where you get lots of natural light and we will use every single spot we can!

  2. Did somebody say neutrals??

It was me. I said neutrals. Keeping your family dressed in LIGHT, SOFT and NEUTRAL colours can brighten up the whole shot. Especially when your home has lots of darker colours (whether that furniture, cupboards, shelving and whatnot).

  3. Light Linens Please!!

Again, this makes a HUGE difference. When you have blankets, sheets, pillows, etc.. that are white can make 1. not only your photos brighter and cleaner, but it 2. makes your home and rooms look bigger! It also makes such a beautiful background for when we take some pictures of just your baby! (Check out the last few photos on this post to see what I mean!)

That’s all for now - Interested in booking a session? I send my families welcome and planning guides so that they can get ready for their newborn shoot with confidence! Click here to inquire about a session.
